2026 St. Martins Plein Air Festival
There are few places in New Brunswick that seem made for Plein Air painting quite like St. Martins. With it’s sea caves, dramatic coastline, beaches, fishing boats, colourful buildings, and ever-changing tides offering endless inspiration. This is a place my good friend Dale Cook and I paint regularly. Recently we spent three days fully immersed while participating in the 2026 Plein Air Festival in St. Martins. A very special shout out to the Peter Salmon Art Club and their incredible dedication and attention in organizing this wonderful event. I am very honoured to have participated as one of the ten invited artists and having the privilege of acting as a…

My “Painted Places” Map
After weeks of wondering how to make it happen and with a lot of research, in combination with a generous heap of procrastination (spending $$$) – I finally figured it out. I’m happy to say that a new feature has found its way onto my website – an interactive map called Painted Places that traces many of my Plein Air paintings back to the locations where they began. To access my interactive map – Click here Painted Places For years, much of my work has originated outdoors while holding my camera looking for inspiration and reference materials. Then it started to change…I started to bring my watercolour paints. Then it…

Sun, Salt and Slow Time
As we walked down the ramp to exit the plane, I turned to look at my husband and said “please remind me not to complain about the heat for at least three minutes”. We laughed. We arrived both sun starved and aching for warm (hot) weather. We were certainly not disappointed. Have you ever gotten a headache because the sun was too bright? Especially when the sun was reflecting on big, bright and beautiful fluffy clouds… and your sunnies almost didn’t help block the glare. Well I sure did, and almost daily. Coming in from spring in New Brunswick where the sky is dark and mostly cloudy and often raining…

Artwork, Fauna - Feathers and Fur, From My Studio, Scapes - Coastal and Land, Still Life - Florals & Much More
Q1 and what have I done?
Isn’t This an Oxymoron? The first quarter of the year is almost always studio time – it allows me to focus…mainly on distractions mind you. This is quite important because I, as a Master Procrastinator, managed to delay the start of a major commission! Although in all fairness to me – I wanted to get new work into the gallery before I go radio silent while working on this rather ambitious painting. Crow Paintings: Capturing Presence and Attitude Five crow paintings took center stage – two as part of a Midnight Series that I have been planning and three just because I wanted to. Each painting leans into their presence…

2025 A Year of Color and Attention
Looking back at this year of painting I painted a lot this past year. Twenty Seven paintings. Holy Moly! Some paintings were so easily created that they almost painted themselves. Then there were others where the whole process was a struggle and a bit frustrating. Some work may hover in the almost done stage for weeks and is looking for more patience than I thought I had. I have previously mentioned that I do have a lot of “impatience” especially with myself! Color (really value) continues to lead the way as it almost always does with me. Without realizing, I leaned into it more boldly, trusting instinct over planning. Detail…
