Well this video tells me that I need to work on lighting if I plan to do more of this in my studio.

As I’m working away in my studio dreaming of warmer weather I’m looking out my windows watching the snow fall. And I do love it when it snows. And I also love to be warm.

I’m quite pleased with the way this painting is developing. In fact, I’ve done a few happy dances!

New on the easel

Painting a beach scene on a cold winters day. Seems about right. The seaweed has me really excited to paint.

This is another rather large oil painting at 36 x36”. No name yet. Suggestions welcome. Getting ready for an exhibition this coming summer.

And I had an altercation once again with Prussian Blue! Got it all over my hand - then I saw my other hand. A little of this colour goes a long way. Trust me. It’s a staining pigment. After several hand washes I still have a couple blue fingers on both hands!

SUNNY SERENADE

When I decided to paint another lilac painting I knew I wanted to capture that feeling of warmth and sunshine. An endless summer feeling. For me lilacs are a mood setter evoking a springtime vibe coupled with a touch of nostalgia. As an artist, I wanted to create a painting that makes you feel all of that.

This is a large oil painting 30 x 48”. A true statement piece.

Making progress At this point I can really feel

Making progress

At this point I can really feel this. I had set this piece aside for a bit. Frankly I found it to be somewhat overwhelming. Greens were getting to me as they often do.

Often when I’m working on a painting I’ll get half way through or more and start something else or go back into the most recent one that I had set aside. That’s where I’m at now. Three seagulls that I’m also working on need a break and I’ll focus once again on this beauty!

This painting is quite large at 30 x48”
