Planning My Packing

I am excited beyond belief! In less than two weeks I will be travelling to Dubois, WY where I will be painting to my heart’s content. Dubois is known for its western flavour and also being cowboy country with real ranches! Its also the location of the Susan Kathleen Black Foundations workshop that I will be attending.

This is a major life experience for me. This is the first time I am travelling that far on my own with three flight changes. Adding to the excitement that I plan to meet up with a group of women that I only know online! Additionally we all plan on visiting Yellowstone National Park after the workshop.

Pinch me

The workshop has an impressive lineup of speakers and instructors that include Robert Bateman, Morten Solberg, Greg Beecham and John and Suzy Seerey Lester and more. I am feeling truly blessed to be able to attend.

Remember how excited that I am?

I even bought a new easel – a travel easel that is far more lightweight than my um…. other easels (I shall not confess how many here). I did the research searching the internet high and low.  I Facebooked with artists who posted photos of themselves painting en Plein Air asking them about their equipment and what they would recommend!  Pleased to say that I am now the happy owner of the Sun Eden lightweight travel watercolor easel!  Love it.

Well, except for the backpack I ordered – does not hold all the equipment like they said it would!  The easels shelf is simply too big to fit. The amount of searching I did to find a suitable backpack may be a blog post on its own at a later date! But for now forget all that! Now I have to pack. I have to make a list of what to bring and things I must not forget – suggestions and recommendations highly appreciated from those of you with this type of travel experience!

I will be meeting a number of my friends from ArtColony Blogspot for the first time in person. Another one of the reasons that I am so excited… more to follow on this soon!
