Commission work adds an extra level of personal connection. It is special because it provides and opportunity to connect my art and your individual story.
Making it personal
You may already have an idea or a vision for the perfect painting or you may want my help to help further develop your idea. I would love to discuss the details of the piece you have envisioned!
A custom painting may reflect a memory, a favourite place or colours that are special to you and your home or place of business
It’s an exciting process to commission a piece of art that is one of a kind and special for you.
I am very excited to occasionally offer commissions. I look forward to working together so I may paint something special for you!
How it works:
- An initial email consultation explores your vision for the piece. At this point we will discuss the details of what you have in mind regarding subject matter, medium, style and size. From there I will be able to provide you with an estimate.
- Once a final composition is agreed upon, an estimated timeline and payment schedule is determined.
A few things to consider when commissioning a piece…
- Being a bit of a purist I prefer to work from my own reference photos. Whenever possible I will work with you to schedule a photo shoot if required. When this is not possible, I will review the reference material you provide – from there we work together to develop our plan on how to make your painting a reality. Quite often I may have images that will fit with your vision. Of course, I am always open to exploring any photos you may like to provide.
- It is important for me that any commissions that I take on represent my distinct style and blends into my body of work. I assume you are approaching me because you love my existing work.
Are there size limits to consider when commissioning a painting?
There are no limits to the potential size and dimensions of the piece. I can work anywhere from 8x 10” up to 40”x40”(and beyond) in any variety of dimensions that best fit your vision and budget.
Do you offer shipping?
Shipping is additional and will be determined when the piece is packed, measured, and weighed. The price will vary depending on the size and weight and final destination. I can provide an options on shipping to review with you in advance. I will be sure to find the best rates possible while also ensuring your piece is safely packed.
Shipping art to the US has gotten complex due to the current tarriffs. This would require an additional quite.
Do you require a deposit?
Yes, in most cases a 50% non-refundable installment is requested before I start your commission with the remaining 50% plus shipping costs due in advance of shipping the painting.
Should I be unable to complete the painting once you have paid a deposit, you would be entitled to a refund.
What is included with a commission?
High quality hand-painted original painting created with professional quality paints on premium quality canvas (or wooden panel) to ensure longevity of your investment.
Ready to hang with hanging wire attached.
Varnished in satin varnish to protect your painting.
Certificate of Authenticity.
Am I able to give a commission as a gift?
Most definitely! A lot of my commissions are painted as special gifts. I can help create something special and meaningful then it can be shipped either directly to you or to the recipient. If you would prefer that the recipient be involved in the creative process you can also opt for a *gift certificate which they can use for their commission.
