Coming along quite nicely.... I am using cerulean (spelling?) and neutral tint added to the pinks to get the shadowy mauves. I have to admit, I was a bit timid to bring up the deeper tones... after all it is basically a white flower with champagne and pink tones. Initially, I had the two roses much too monochromatic... I had to take a deep breath and deepen the colours around the centers.
The little bits of deep shade and shadows seem to lift the petals right off the page. Did a lot more work on the background today - I will still have to go in with a unifying wash but will wait until almost the last step top do this.
I hope to finish the last two roses during my next painting session.
